Job Title: Betting Assistant

Main purpose of job
- Provide Totepool customers with exceptional customer service standards.
- Operate all betting equipment effectively and as requested.
- Work accurately and balance at the end of the meeting.
- Pro-actively sell high margin totepool products (exotic bets) and
participate in ongoing marketing campaigns.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Customer Service
- Make a customer feel welcome by offering a friendly greeting, smile,
eye contact and an apology if keep waiting.
- Listen carefully and repeat the bets back to the customer to check
understanding.
- Be polite and courteous at all times and address people in a professional
manner.
- Be discreet when selling and paying out winnings and issue a receipt
with all winnings.
- Encourage all customers to bet on high margin exotic products.
- Escalate complaints and issue immediately to a supervisor.
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge of all totepool bets.
- When working in hospitality areas (boxes, restaurants, patio's etc)
introduce yourself to customers, point out the location of the service
position, distribute marksense cards during quiet periods and explain
exotic bets as required.
Marketing
- Distribute marketing material when required.
- Pro-actively approach customers and explain the current promotions,
offers and general service / bet types
- Carry out box talks as required.
- Ensure you are well informed about live marketing campaigns.
Standards
- Adhere to all Company Policies as laid out in the Employee Handbook.
- Adhere to Uniform and Personal Appearance Guidelines and act in
a professional manner.
- Service points clear of litter and debris.
Equipment
- Use all types of betting equipment as required, including; Tote
Courier Terminal (TCT), Tote Fast Bet Terminal (TFBT), Tote Betting
Terminal (TBT), PDQ machine.
- Operate terminals in accordance to training and report any faults
immediately to Supervisor.
Cash Control and Basic Security
- Keep monies tidy and out of reach and sight of customers.
- Keep doors closed and locked and never leave money unattended.
- Lock the betting screen while on a break.
- Only open doors to known employees or those with totepool photo
ID passes.
- Report any suspicious behaviours or loitering to a Supervisor.
- Report all bag shortages immediately.
- Check all notes for forgeries.
- Call for additional float before running out.
- Minimise coin pay to the cash cage at the end of the meeting.
- Sign off and report to the cash cage at the instructed time.
- Encourage credit card users to purchase vouchers to avoid bank transaction
charges.
- Assist Customer Service Supervisor to cash up machines after racing.
